There is a fact that
Taylormade R9 SuperTri Driver is scheduled to release Feb 19th 2010! It's a 460cc head with 3 movable weights and an adjustable face and will be available in a TP version. Taylormade provides two 1 gram weights and one 16 gram weight and claims a maximum of 75 yards of right to left or vice versa adjust-ability. It also features the previous R9's adjustable options like face angle open or closed which changes the effective loft as well.
I hear that the adjustment sleeve has been updated but that provides no substantial gain for the player's shot, perhaps they made a new sleeve to save even further on weight. I unlike many people welcome almost all new releases by Taylormade because they push the envelope and keep their competitors on their toe's. So what if its virtually the same as the R9 except with a deeper face, my only gripe about it is of everyone I know who has an R9 very few actually adjust the club after the first several rounds.
The R9 SuperTri clubhead offers better aerodynamics than previous Taylormade drivers through a redesigned crown, a deeper face, and center of gravity that is slight more rearward compared to previous generations of R9.As early as 2004, TaylorMade Golf has been making drivers with adjustable weights. Then the company introduced the R9 series in 2008, which included movable weights and "Flight Control Technology" (FCT) - giving the golfer the option to alter face angle, loft and lie angle.
Moreover, the adjustable hosel allows you to select one of eight different loft, lie and face-angle configurations so you can pick the look at address that best suits your swing. MWT, or Moveable Weight Technology is seen in these three weight ports which are interchangeable so you can adjust the center of gravity to promote a fade, neutral or draw bias. The sleek head design of the SuperTri reduces wind drag in the downswing to increase swing speeds which translates into more distance. Inside the clubhead, Ultra-thin Wall technology reduces the wall thickness of the clubhead, relieving enough discretionary weight to allow for the implementation.
The R9 SuperTri's stock shaft is the Fujikura Motore 60-gram shaft, which is lighter than shaft in previous R9 drivers. The results are a driver geared to help increase swing speed while promoting better launch conditions and more forgiveness on off-center strikes.. It shows the movable weights and the Flight Control Technology sleeve at the hosel.
In a word,it is a good looking driver. I really liked the black head on it. It sounded good too. The adjustability was very impressive and responsive. I could make a click open and it would hit a tiny fade. You really can adjust your club to hit the shot you desire. I felt compared to the Nike VR tool though, that this was not as slick. We never hit it as far as the other drivers.
