If you're planning a trip on one of the major airlines, including BA (subject to industrial action by cabin crew, of course!) there may be a chance to sit back and enjoy a new series of golf-related programmes during your flight.
Far from resting on their laurels Ping have managed to improve the new
G15 driver with some excellent new developments. The feel and forgiveness of the Ping G15 is excellent and the club feels a little more alive and more explosive than the G10. It comes with either the TFC 149D or Aldila Serrano 60 Shaft.
IMG (International Management Group) which represents top players including Tiger Woods, Antony Kim and Mike Weir is launching HSBC Golfing World, a golf television programme, customised specifically for the inflight market.
It says it will take the best and most-compelling material from the existing Golfing World show (a comprehensive hour-long golf magazine programme that mixes the latest news, interviews, lifestyle features and tournament updates currently aired in over 30 countries) and make it available in a monthly version to passengers.
The latest in Ping’s G range of clubs the Ping G15 driver updates the technology that made the G10 driver the market leader. Like its predecessor the G15 has titanium head which reaches the 460CC maximum limit on headsize. To increase the moment of inertia or MOI the G15 has an elongated head from back to front which has lead to an improvement in MOI.
The half-hour version of HSBC Golfing World will air on British Airways, Emirates, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines among others from August 2010. HSBC the worldwide banking corporation already supports the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapor and has a long-term commitment to grow the game at the grassroots level through schemes such as the HSBC China junior golf programme.
Tell us on the forum about your in-flight experiences - scary moments, unusual incidents, interesting passengers you've sat next to. If you've already seen the Golfing World programme, tell us about that, too.
The club sits behind the ball very well and is visually confidence building – the half crescent alignment system has been slightly modified in the
Ping G15 driver to look slightly more modern and fit in with then new red colour scheme – giving a solid look to address. The 460cc head still looks like a driver should do (I think it is slightly deeper at the back than the G10) and the club is extremely well balanced.
In terms of performance it cannot be faulted – a solid feel and good sound at impact translate into a penetrating and long ball flight with impressive forgiveness on off centre hits.
